For the sports-minded, Columbia offers many fun ways to keep in shape. Recreational opportunities are available at over 40 area parks. Joggers, walkers and bikers enjoy the many hiking trails in Columbia such as the MKT Nature and Fitness Trail, a 4.7-mile urban walkway through Columbia's beautiful greenbelt. The trail also connects with the Katy Trail State Park, the largest rails-to-trails conversion in the nation, stretching 185 miles across Missouri.
Columbia is also home to the largest state game competition in the nation. The Show-Me State Games is an annual Olympic-style sporting event for the whole family.
Of course, fall Saturdays are all about Tiger football at Faurot Field on the campus of the University of Missouri. You can also catch the madness of Tiger basketball at Mizzou Arena in the winter and early spring.
Columbia boasts a vibrant music scene. Catch live acts at The Blue Note, a famous downtown venue. A variety of performances are also held at Jesse Auditorium and the Missouri Theater Center for the Arts.
